The Spaces In-Between
The pause between transitions can be used in a very powerful way. It is a blank canvas of stillness that rises after the end of an experience, and precedes the beginning of the next. This state exists without definitions or expectations, making it the ideal energetic environment for allowing more of yourself to become known to you. Questions are matched with answers, fears are soothed with love, and uncertainty is met with trust. We encounter these moments every second, both in waking life and in the soft silence of the night. Between heartbeats, between breaths, blinks of the eyes, and of course, in ways that are beyond the body. After every recurring gestational period from within the spaces in-between, we are reborn again.
I explore this concept most regularly when settling in for a night of sleep, or while in a brief state of deep rest during the day. My sensory perception turns inward, allowing my awareness of my physical environment to become secondary. I notice an increased clarity in my connection with the concurrent aspects of myself, who are frequently interacting with other beings and engaging in a variety of activities. As I continue to drift, my conscious mind is lulled into an inactive state, where I enter full “observation mode”. I take in information from countless sources, many of which can not be translated by my conscious mind. Though the details may not cross over, the emotional states that are present while observing these realties are often delivered to my conscious mind afterwards. On occasion, a symbolic summarized interpretation of the experience is provided to me as well.
I’ll describe some of the experiences I’ve had while exploring the spaces in-between, with the intention of unlocking memories within all of you:
Early one morning upon waking from a dream, I saw a grid of hundreds of perfectly lined-up grey dots behind my closed eyelids (though still using my nonphysical vision). The first thought I received with this vision, was that I was perceiving binary code that represented the rewiring of my neurons. The grid pattern was very balanced and coherent until my conscious mind started to refocus into physical reality, causing the pattern to fluctuate and become more irregular.
Frequently, I experience “waking-dreams” when my consciousness lingers in-between the sleeping and waking states. I can remain there for several hours, usually until I re-set my awareness by getting up and briefly focusing back into physical reality before attempting to drift back into sleep. During these periods, my experience of time is greatly condensed, since the perception of my physical environment is dimmed way down. Basking in this timeless realm allows for some remarkable experiences to take place, including profound healing. There is one interaction of this nature that I recall quite strongly:
Over the span of several hours, I was engaged in communication with a very abstract expression of a being. I was observing what seemed to be an ash-grey figure sitting within a pink lotus flower. I was watching this being connect with my higher self and other nonphysical beings associated with me, in order to gain authorization to go deeper into a healing process that they were collaborating in with me. They were speaking light language or a galactic dialect to communicate with these other beings. I could feel the frequency of the words, and could understand them on a foundational level. I remember there were a couple other presences that stepped forward and became more prominent in this space while this was happening. I regained awareness in my conscious mind before this gathering was finished, but I believe that authorization was indeed given to this being by my higher self.
In another brief waking-dream experience, I recall being inside a large greenhouse-like structure with beings who resembled Sasquatch. I was using various plants and a piece of technology that was comparable to a wooden paddle to adjust and tune the frequencies within my physical and emotional bodies. I remember hearing the sounds and feeling the vibrations in my body when using these tools. Many of the details didn’t transfer over, but the feelings of absolute balance and grace were very clear once I refocused back into physical reality.
I’ve noticed how lucidity in dreamtime can prompt a vivid waking-dream experience to follow. I remember one instance where I had a lucid dream that involved an all-encompassing feeling of ecstasy, which I believe served as a symbol of reconnection with my core vibration. By being in an aligned state with my essential self, I was able to maintain an expanded view as I slightly refocused into physical reality. Upon shifting into the waking-dream state, I became aware of how accelerated and technical my inner dialogue sounded. I was demonstrating how to solve a very complex equation to a collective who was observing. Since my conscious mind has minimal reference points that would allow for the understanding and retainment of this experience, most of the details drifted away once I fully awoke.
On a couple other occasions while in this same waking-dream state, I have perceived the faces of different ET beings with my nonphysical eyes. They were very vivid and intense visions, and have remained just as strong within my memory.
The first I recall, was the face of an amphibious salamander-like being. Their head was diamond shaped, they had kelly-green skin with a slight sheen, and very large golden-yellow eyes (spherical in shape). The vision lasted for a few seconds, even after opening and blinking my eyes a couple times. I was able to hold this being’s face in my immediate awareness until I pulled myself out of the waking-dream state. The clarity and realism of this experience startled me initially, yet after pondering the energy of the being, I realized they seemed familiar. I remembered a time years prior, where I had perceived a similar face in my mind’s eye for a fleeting moment. Perhaps they are a friend, a counterpart of mine, or a guide just checking in and presenting the opportunity for a deeper connection to form.
Not long after, I experienced another vivid perception of a face. I’m certain that this next being I saw was a version of myself in parallel reality, since they physically looked very similar to me and seemed to mirror some of the ways in which I energetically express myself. They appeared to be an ET humanoid or hybrid being with pale, slightly green skin and large dark brown eyes. They were very dainty and slender, with a reverse tear-drop head shape and narrow/small facial features. They had dark brown (nearly black) short hair, cut into a pixie-style haircut with their bangs brushed to one side across their forehead. This being felt androgynous, but leaning slightly more feminine. They were wearing at least two layers, consisting of a sweater with a jacket layered on top. Their clothing was green, and shades of both light and dark grey. Our interaction was brief, but it felt as if very complex information was being exchanged between us. Though the details have escaped me, I do remember the theme of our interaction had to do with the physics of creating one’s own reality, and a detailed agreement we were reviewing together.
Something unique happened at the end of this waking-dream experience. When I opened my eyes, I could physically see the display shelves beside my bed. But once my eyes adjusted, I realized I was actually turned the opposite way in my bed, away from the shelves. Once I realized this, I blinked once more the scenery changed accordingly, meaning I was suddenly viewing the correct angle of my room.
Variations of this experience have happened twice more while residing in-between the sleeping and waking states. Reality can become very malleable, and can shift in an instant to match the beliefs or assumptions one has when refocusing into their “physical” life.
On two occasions, when regaining my awareness in physical reality, I perceived my bed to be placed at the opposite end of my room. I was fully convinced that my room was mirrored and flipped, and only assured myself of my true position by physically standing up and looking around. Both times, the scenery changed to match my belief of how my room is “supposed” to be in physical reality.
I believe moments like these occur as a way of reminding us of how masterful we are at creating reality. We are constantly projecting our ideas and beliefs around ourselves, perhaps not fully realizing the extent our our creative power. Even the focused/conscious mind has a very direct and instantaneous influence over our experience of reality. Participation in this creation is not reserved exclusively for our more expanded/aware expressions of ourselves; all aspects of the self are involved.
Along the lines of experiencing the immediate creation of reality, the concept of energetic geometrical foundations come to mind. Everything in physical reality has an energetic blueprint that exists concurrently in the form of an energy pattern. These patterns are often interpreted as geometric designs, and can sometimes be perceived in the waking-dream state. Commonly when I awake, I see colorful and complex designs drifting in my vision for a few moments. Some include the entire rainbow, while others consist of a fewer selection of colors. All of them, however, are composed of beautifully intricate patterns. I believe they represent many diverse expressions of consciousness, including thought-forms, emotional states, nonphysical beings, gateways to other realities, and even reflections of ourselves who greet us in geometric form. The precise, ornate, and ethereal nature of these energetic structures is captivating.
My explorations within the waking-dream state have allowed me to understand the vastness and complexity of my consciousness. Though I’ve only seen a small slice of my infinite being, the glimpse I’ve been graced with has greatly expanded my awareness. I’ve experienced the flood unfiltered of brilliance that flows through my loosely-focused physical identity, and have observed it fade just as quickly as my focus returns to a single expression of “self”. Consciousness is truly what we are at EVERY level, the dial is simply being adjusted as we focus in and out of various realities. Certain ideas within consciousness may not be relevant to the reality one is occupying, but that doesn’t diminish the depth of knowledge a being possesses.
The waking-dream state and other in-between experiences, serve as gateways to the expanded self. There is so much to discover within these states; all of which can be applied in some form to the physical experience. Even if only to ignite a burning curiosity to further explore!
I encourage all to follow the trails that lead to a greater remembrance of self. After all, everything you find on this journey, is just another reflection of YOU.
With gratitude,
~Willow
